Learning resources for the Battle of Bannockburn project
The Bannockburn Learning Team will be very active during the closure of the Centre between 2012 and 2014. Although the popular learning programme at the site will not be available after October 2012, an exciting new outreach project will be offered to schools across Scotland that will bring part of the Bannockburn experience out to classrooms and other heritage sites.
As well as offering pupils the opportunity to learn more about the battle through the arms, armour and objects of the period they will get the chance to interact with characters from the battlefield and learn at ‘first hand’ what the life of a 14th century soldier would have been like. The team will also be offering a taster of some of the learning activities that will form part of the innovative new Centre, before its opening in 2014.
